Gabrielle Civil - "Swallow the Fish" Faculty/Staff Book Discussion

  • Center for Mission 2004 Randolph Avenue Saint Paul, MN, 55105 United States (map)

The Mission Chairs are pleased to announce a book discussion of Swallow the Fish with the author - Dr. Gabrielle Civil - on Tuesday, April 18th, from 11:45am-1:15pm, in the Center for Mission. Staff and faculty, who register for the discussion will receive a gratis copy of the book.

Dr. Civil writes: "The aim of my work is to open up space."
As a performance artist, poet, and professor at St. Kate’s from 2000-2013, she will bring to this discussion a deep understanding and appreciation of our tripartite mission at St. Kate’s. Swallow the Fish advocates for the right to define the self, and the right for that definition to evolve through discovery. We hope Dr. Civil's book provokes personal and institutional questions such as: Where are we/you on the journey of realizing our tripartite mission given shifting institutional, political, and social contexts? How do you/we engage in discovery to develop an authentic relationship to our mission?
